Buddy Program 2016-2017 at Chiang Mai District

Students, Lect. Joey Cano, and staffs from The Institute of International Studies, Ramkhamhaeng University (IIS-RU) visited Wat Chom Tong School, Lanna Wisdom School, Baan Tawai, and attractive places at Chiang Mai province during 1-3 March, 2017 to participate in Buddy Program 2016-2017. The program helps exchange students accustomed to Thai culture and be familiar with IIS-RU students.

This year, the program main concepts are promoting Thai Lanna culture and Buddy Program, and getting involved in social development especially upcountry. Participants went to Wat Chom Tong School located in Hang Dong district to donate essential school supplies and teach English language for young students. There are various activities they engaged in this trip such as learning to decorate handmade Khantoke and umbrella, weaving basket, and cooking Northern style dessert at Baan Tawai and Lanna Wisdom School with local artists. The program made friendship blossom as groups spent time together at Wat Phra That Doi Suthep where it is a popular sacred area and Royal Park Rajapruek where there are exotic plants garden and butterfly house.

Participants created short presentation in order to promote this program and submit it to the IIS-RU for competition organized by IIS-RU. The winner was awarded with some money that they decided to donate it to the destitute people.
