Developing Qualitative Research Expertise for Interdisciplinary Studies 2019

The committee of research development of the Institute of International Studies, Ramkhamhaeng University (IIS-RU) organized the research development activity of the academic year 2018 on the title “Developing Qualitative Research Expertise for Interdisciplinary Studies”. This special talk was held on Friday 25 January, 2019 at the Lecture Room on 7 Floor of Printing Press Building. We were honored to have the distinguished speaker as Assistant Professor Dr. Savitri Gadavanij from the Graduate School of Language and Communication, National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA) to give a special talk on the related issues of developing qualitative research expertise for interdisciplinary studies and doing discourse analysis. Her research interest lies in the discursive construction of gender identity, ideology applying theory such as Queer Linguistics and/or Southern Theory within the 3 dimensional analytical framework of Critical Discourse Analysis.

The aims of the academic talk were two-fold. Firstly, it aimed to offer a platform for faculty members to have a chance to exchange their views and discuss on relevant topics about developing qualitative research expertise for interdisciplinary studies and doing discourse analysis in order to apply obtained knowledge to foreign language teaching, curriculum development, and research implication. Secondly, it attempted to encourage and inspire faculty members to conduct research in the field of discourse analysis and critical discourse analysis.
