Preservation of Thai Tradition on Songkran Day or Water Festival, 2016

On April 11th, 2016, 7.00 a.m. to 12.00 p.m. at King Ramkhamhaeng the Great Auditorium, students and officers from the Institute of International Studies, Ramkhamhaeng University participated in the event “Songkran Day or Water Festival, 2016” which was aimed to preserve Thai traditional New Year.  

The New Year day begun with the students, faculties, and staffs gave alms to the Buddhist monks. After that, they paid respect to Asst. Prof. Wutisak Larpcharoensap, the President of Ramkhamhaeng University, and faculties by slowly pouring water on their hands and wishing the elderly to have good health, happiness, and prosperity. This traditional path is called “Rod Nam”. Moreover, IIS-RU students and staffs conjoined to wear Thai traditional textiles and clothes.
