POL6090 The Principle of Political Science
A study of basic ideas and concepts in political science. Political processes, patterns and methods employed by important ideologies will be examination.
POL6091 The Principle of International Relations
A study of concepts and theories in international relations, international organizations and international politics.
POL6092 The Principle of Public Administration
A study of development and theoretical framework in public administration. Also, basic concepts of public administration will be examined.
POL6904 English for Political Science
A study of the use of English to understand important concepts and issues in political matters. English articles and commentaries will be used to familiarize students with English usage so as to enable them to express themselves in English on political phenomena, verbally and in writing.
POL6000 Philosophy of Science in Political Science
A study of the meanings and sources of the philosophy of science and the relationship between philosophy of science and political science. An emphasis will be given to such fundamental issues of philosophy of science as concepts, facts, hypotheses, theories, and laws.
POL6001 Research Methodology in Political Science
A study of research methods and techniques in social sciences and their application to the study of political science.
POL6100 Approaches in Political Science
A study of ideas and analytical frameworks in political science; emphasis of assumptions and logic of various approaches such as institutional, political culture, power, political elite, and structural function.
POL6200 Theories in International Relations
A study of theories of international relations and a survey of academic works of leading scholars. Particulars attention will be given to the application of such theories to the real world ii. A study of theoretical ideas and thoughts of leading scholars in public administration of the East and the West. This includes an examination of sources and contents of certain important theories and their application. students are to discuss the pros and cons of such concepts and theories.
POL6101 State, Power and Public Policy
A study of the formation and developments of concepts of state and social forces. Attention will be given to an analysis of theoretical models for the explanation of the role of the state, social forces and public policy.
POL6201 Current Affairs in World Politics
A study of current events in international politics, using different analytical frameworks in order to understand backgrounds and effects on the international system with particular attention to effects on Thailand.
POL6301 Public Policy Analysis
A study of theories and concepts in public policy. This includes an analytical survey and policy processes with emphasis on planning, implementation, evaluation, and renunciation.
POL7200 Comparative Foreign Policy Analysis
An analysis of factors influencing the formulation and decision of foreign policy, bureaucratic politics, organization process, psychological factors etc., with particular attention given to Thai foreign policy.
POL7203 Thailand and Global Political Economy
A study of the impacts of world economic system on Thailand through the frameworks of world system, interdependence, dependency, mercantilism. The study focuses on the role of multinational corporations and their impacts on the world political economy and on Thailand. Consideration will be on Thai problems in such issues as trade, investment, assistance and economic integration.
POL7209 International Relations in Southeast Asia
A study of economic, social and political conditions of Southeast Asian states with an emphasis on their development and problems. Foreign policies and international interactions and the role of major powers in the region will be examined.
POL7212 Seminar on Thai Foreign Policy
A study of factors, both internal and external, influencing the formulation and conduct of Thai foreign policy. This includes an examination of the adjustment of Thai foreign policy since World War II.
POL7096 Independent Study
Student needs to have the approval from the academic advisors before carrying out a research project in the field of politics.
POL 7097 Comprehensive Examination
Comprehensive Examination will be taken. Each student has to express his/her ability in integrating body of knowledge, concepts and theories, in order to answer those cases, orally as well as in writing.
Program Completion
A minimum of 39 credits is necessary to qualify for completion of a program.
