What are the basic requirements for IIS-RU undergraduate students to participate in the exchange program?

IIS-RU undergraduate students have to meet the requirement to apply for exchange programs with partner universities under IIS-RU agreements as follows;

  1. Students must be a second year or upper full-time Bachelor degree IIS-RU students.
  2. Students are nominated by your selection committee, executive committee and the Director of IIS-RU.
  3. Students can meet entry requirements for the exchange program at partner universities.
  4. Students must be currently enrolled students at IIS-RU.
  5. Students must pay a regular tuition fee at Institute of International Studies, Ramkhamhaeng University (IIS-RU) in accordance with the total numbers of course credits which they selected for each semester until the completion of the exchange program with partner universities.
  6. Students must not having applied for or being the applicant of other exchange program.

Remark: please be noted that freshman students will not be allowed to apply any exchange programs with partner universities; students should register courses at IIS-RU at least two regular consecutive semesters.

 

How long is the exchange program period?

The period of exchange programs may slightly vary among partner universities. However, the basic semester timelines of exchange programs will be specified as follows;

Fall Semester:     July – November

Spring Semester: December – May

 

How much does it cost for participating in the exchange program?

The budget varies widely, depending upon costs of living in each particular country and personal preferences. The estimated budget of 250,000 – 400,000 Baht per semester is conceivable. For instance, the costs of living in France and Germany might be higher than Asian countries counterparts.

 

Do outgoing exchange students need to pay for tuition fee?

All tuition fees at partner universities under IIS-RU agreements will be waived. However, outgoing exchange students are required to pay a regular tuition fee at Institute of International Studies, Ramkhamhaeng University (IIS-RU) in accordance with the total numbers of course credits which they selected for each semester until the completion the exchange program with partner universities.

 

Are there any scholarships available to provide financial support to outgoing exchange students?

There are no scholarships provided in both full and partial schemes. Outgoing exchange students must have financial support which covers a range of round-trip airfare tickets, living expenses, miscellaneous, allowances and accommodation.

 

When is the application period?

An official announcement of application acceptance and selection process, along with other required documents and deadlines will be made and given around March – April for the Fall Semester and around August – October for the Spring Semester each year.

 

How many credits the outgoing exchange students are required to transfer back to the Institute of International Studies, Ramkhamhaeng University (IIS-RU)?

According to the Ramkhamhaeng University’s regulations on the numbers of credits that undergraduate students can do register per one semester is 8 courses (24 credits). Therefore, outgoing exchange students can do register no more than 24 credits per one academic semester to be transferred back to the Institute of International Studies, Ramkhamhaeng University (IIS-RU). In addition, all registering grades and credits obtained from partner universities will be transferred back to the Institute of International Studies, Ramkhamhaeng University (IIS-RU) even though the grades will be given in F (Fail) or Not Passed. Thus, outgoing exchange students have to study hard and pay more attention for their studies during they are participating in the exchange program.     

 

Will the Office of International Affairs, Institute of International Studies, Ramkhamhaeng University (IIS-RU) offer the service for visa application for each foreign embassy which partner universities are located in?

No, the Office of International Affairs, Institute of International Studies, Ramkhamhaeng University (IIS-RU) will not offer any service for visa application for each foreign embassy which partner universities are located in. The successful candidates have to bring all required documents to apply visa for each different countries by themselves.

 

What successful candidates can do if they were rejected to get visa from each foreign embassy?

According to the visa application, it will depend on the consideration for each foreign embassy. If successful candidates were rejected to get visa from any particular foreign embassy, they cannot join the program and the application process will be voided automatically. The fees paid for document preparation and visa application will not be responsible for IIS-RU.
